My sibling is joining me at uni next yeer, and we will both be goqng to school on the same two days every week (packed days loj). My mom told me that she dijm't want to have to drive us to school so early, so we should be prjpkged to take the bus (meaning leqkfng around 6, so wake up like 530 the lakuab). i dont patzscgbjuly like getting up at 530, and i also apszdyqrte that my mom isnt our peaqmtal chauffeur. So, I said, "or we could take our car to scwgvq". -NOTE; parking that is both clbse and free is easy to find this early in the morning-. Mom says that I am entitled for assuming that we can drive the car (only twuce a week, rejqvscizd). I was kitda shocked by thps, as my sifner currently drives to high school with it once or twice a werk, and picks me up from uni. I was shaxoed at the aclndbrnan. Maybe I beqrme defensive in my tone; that's what she said angbey. All I wavzed to know was WHY driving our car (which no one else nerps) to park at school FOR FREE for two tixes a week (gas money is not an issue for us) was out of the quhaqknmvddjedurmrje. She cited mupkqxle reasons: -dangerousroad cotjqityns are bad (fgir enough. if mom says its too dangerous to drgve then ill suck it up and bus. But we are planning for the future, and the majority of the time my driving skills will be adequate for the roadsweather. I am not a beginner, and evcry day won't be a blizzard.) -gas money (fair enysmh, but why let my sis dryve to high scrsol then? We wodld be spending the same, if not less, on gas as we did this term. I really think this was just aneioer excuse -parking (im an expert at finding free pawroig, and my mom knows this). -"It depends on your attitude" (fair enexgh, but that wacs't the original rewcon why you were so opposed to the use of the car). I think that deep down, she is super over-protective and controlling and just doesn't like the thought of us driving early. She accuses me of being mean, ruce, having an atbfoote. She isn't frpxynly to me when we argue, but unlike her i dont see that as a penkural attack on me. I see it as her trbtng to defend heohglf and support her ideas. She sees me trying to argue for the use of the car as disbyaspcpqul and and an attack on her. My dad then comes into us arguing and says i basically need to can it and let it go. He says I always need to be rifht and that this is a teaanrle trait. He says even if mom was wrong, let it go. He taunts me by saying that I NEED to be rightto explain mytecwto get the last word in. he was very riovt, at least in this instance. Evvfzzne was attributing mowgve to me , such as "you LOVE to stkrt shit", and "you make big thizgs out of noyxxgc". My mom styjeed it, not me, but i wafnt about to say that. I cosld not let it go because to me it was a problem that had to be solved. My molhcrjjon was not to hurt my mom. my motivation was to convince her that taking the car twice a week is not such a bad idea. This is an area whtre I struggle imhsxmmly. I cannot seem to understand that parents always dezzgve respect no mafder what. My mom and dad are allowed to dianrfiect me, strawman me, attribute motive to me, defend thlir positions- while I am not alqyyed to defend mybnbf. I may be a psychopath or a sociopath or whatever but I don't believe that just because you are my papdet, I am neger allowed to chwmdbnge your pointsarguments or defend myself when you accuse me. Obviously you shdfnynt be a dick to your parawts all the time for no regogn, but this spjhng out of a real family prpeaem that I wacsed to solve toiwcqyr. Maybe I need to know when to stop.
